Police in Kenema Division have arrested a female suspect following the discovery of a large quantity of a prohibited substance believed to be kush during a routine patrol operation at Talia Torgboma Village.

The suspect, identified as Hawa Bockarie, was apprehended after officers conducted a lawful stop-and-search exercise while on duty in the area. During the search, a total of one hundred and seven (107) wraps of suspected kush were allegedly found in her possession.

According to police sources, the recovered exhibits were immediately secured and properly documented in accordance with standard evidential procedures.

The operation was carried out by D/Sgt. 9612 Massaquio A.Y., D/PC 14932 Joseph R.N., and D/PC 19300 Vandi B.M. Their coordinated efforts reportedly ensured the safe arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the suspected narcotics without incident.

Following her arrest, Bockarie was conveyed to the Kenema Police Station, where she is currently being held in lawful custody assisting with investigations.

Police further stated that the recovered substances will undergo further examination, and upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect will be formally charged to court as appropriate.

The arrest, authorities say, underscores the continued commitment of the Sierra Leone Police to intensify the fight against drug-related offences and to safeguard communities across all thirteen chiefdoms in the Kenema Division from the harmful effects of illicit substances.
