The Police Hospital at Kingtom has launched a nationwide free surgical campaign coinciding with the arrival of the tenth contingent of medical volunteers from the Surgeons in Action Foundation.
This international team, composed of specialist surgeons from Spain, arrived in Freetown on November 14, 2025, to offer their expertise and support to police personnel, their families, and local community members across Sierra Leone. The surgeons bring substantial experience across various surgical disciplines and are scheduled to conduct operations at several police hospital locations throughout the duration of the campaign.
Prior to the commencement of surgical procedures, preliminary screenings were systematically conducted at all police hospital and health facilities to accurately identify and prioritize patients eligible for treatment based on medical need.
With patient assessments now complete and recipients selected, surgical operations have officially begun at the Kingtom Police Hospital, where hospital staff are adhering to stringent protocols to ensure optimal patient safety.
Hospital authorities have emphasized that this free surgical initiative is designed to enhance access to specialized medical care for vulnerable populations and to strengthen the healthcare support infrastructure within police communities.
The Police Hospital is committed to providing regular updates on the campaign's progress, including the status of surgical procedures. Further details will be disseminated regarding patient outcomes, the total number of surgeries performed, and the expansion of services to other police health facilities across Sierra Leone.
