Victims of the devastating floods that struck Baama Town on September 16, 2025, have finally received much-needed food aid, thanks to the Wandor Development Association (WanDa). The distribution, secured by the Sierra Leone Police, marks the first relief effort for many still reeling from the disaster.

According to WanDa's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Suleiman Sannie, the assistance followed a meticulous verification process to identify legitimate flood victims. "The organization has stepped forward to provide vital food assistance to bring relief to many families still coping with the aftermath of the disaster, which caused widespread damage and displacement," Sannie stated.

He added that WanDa, funded by various individual contributions, remains dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities.

Sannie expressed gratitude to all contributors, including Paramount Chief of Wandor Chiefdom, PC Larry Sao Fangawa, and Mr. Usman Barrie, who spearheaded the initiative. He highlighted the crucial role of the Sierra Leone Police at the Baama Police Post, whose full backing ensured a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise.

Inspector Prince Bernard Jaygboi Kamara, Officer-in-Charge of the Baama Police Post, deployed an officer to the distribution site to maintain order and guarantee that aid reached only verified victims. The operation garnered widespread praise from both beneficiaries and community leaders.

The Sierra Leone Police collaborated closely with organizers from the initial registration and verification of affected individuals through to the distribution of food items, ensuring peace and order throughout the entire process.
