Police Testimony in High Court Murder Trial

In the murder trial of Abdul Bangura before Justice Mohamed Bawoh at High Court No. 2, Detective Police Constable (DPC) 17822 Kargbo testified regarding the defendant's connection to the death of Ibrahim Sorie Kamara.

Kargbo, of the CID Grafton Division, testified that on February 3, 2025, both the defendant and the deceased were taken into custody. He noted that the deceased had sustained arm injuries allegedly inflicted by Bangura. Following the issuance of a medical form, the defendant was detained.

The following morning, the defendant’s father reported that a confrontation between the two men had resulted in Kamara’s death. Subsequent to this report, a post-mortem was conducted at Connaught Hospital on February 19, 2025; the resulting medical certificate was entered into evidence.

On February 20, 2025, police cautioned and interviewed the defendant. A progress report was subsequently submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal guidance. By March 11, 2025, a voluntary charge statement was obtained and admitted as evidence.

Under cross-examination by defense counsel C. Taylor Young, Kargbo confirmed the defendant admitted to the killing.

The prosecution, led by A.B.N. Taylor has requested further time to call witnesses.

The proceedings are adjourned until March 17, 2026.
