PPRC Fines APC Party NLe 350,000 for Violations at Mamount Meeting

The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has fined the All People’s Congress (APC) a total of NLe 350,000 for violations of the Political Parties Act during a rally in Freetown.

The fines relate to statements deemed profane, provocative, and capable of inciting public disorder at the party’s “Mammoth Meeting,” held at Atouga Mini Stadium on Saturday, 31 January 2026.

National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya was fined NLe 200,000, while party official Zainab Sheriff received a fine of NLe 150,000. Both officials had previously been warned in a letter dated 11 November 2025 against contravening Section 39 of the Political Parties Act 2022 (Act No. 25 of 2022).

The APC has seven days to pay the fines, after which the PPRC said it would take further action as provided under the law.

In a statement, the commission expressed grave concern over the nature of the remarks, describing them as “obscene, profane, and capable of inciting public disorder.”
