Timbo Urges Delegates to Choose Leaders Based on Vision, Not Wealth

All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Osman Timbo, has urged party delegates to base their leadership choices on policies, vision, and ideas rather than personal wealth.

Speaking on Radio Democracy 98.1, Timbo emphasized that no president can develop Sierra Leone using personal financial resources, stressing that national development must be driven by sound policies, strong institutions, and effective governance.

He cautioned delegates against being influenced by financial inducements during the flagbearer selection process, noting that leadership should not be reduced to money politics.

“No president will develop Sierra Leone with his personal wealth,” Timbo said, urging party members to focus on a candidate’s message, values, and proposed programmes.

He further explained that individuals who distribute money during campaigns would be unable to sustain such gestures once in office, as the responsibilities of the presidency do not permit personal handouts.

According to him, the true role of a president is to design and implement policies and programmes that improve the lives of citizens, rather than personally dispensing funds.

Timbo added that sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders prioritize long-term solutions over short-term gains, calling on delegates to consider the future direction of the country when making their choice.

His remarks come amid ongoing internal consultations within the APC as the party prepares to select its flagbearer ahead of future national elections.
