President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has held discussions with Nigerian business magnate and Founder of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, focusing on regional investment and economic integration in West Africa.
Following the meeting, President Bio described the engagement as inspiring and welcomed Dangote’s support for the West Africa Integration and Investment Summit (WAIIS), an initiative aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and expanding private sector participation across the sub-region.
“I had an inspiring meeting with Aliko Dangote, Founder and CEO of the Dangote Group, whose support for the West Africa Integration and Investment Summit (WAIIS) excites me,” President Bio stated.
The President noted that Dangote’s leadership of the newly established ECOWAS Business Council marks an important milestone in advancing regional economic development and private sector engagement.
He added that the Council is expected to play a key role in strengthening collaboration between governments and businesses, while boosting trade, investment, and economic growth across West Africa.
President Bio expressed optimism about working closely with Dangote and members of the Council to position WAIIS as a leading platform for sustainable investment and regional integration.
“Aliko’s leadership in the new ECOWAS Business Council represents a significant milestone. I look forward to working with him and the Council to position WAIIS as a leading, sustainable, and private-sector-driven platform,” he added.
The meeting highlights the growing emphasis on private sector involvement in advancing regional development goals and strengthening economic partnerships within the ECOWAS region.
WAIIS is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, business leaders, and development partners to explore opportunities for deeper integration and increased investment across West Africa.
