Presidential Spokesman Alpha Kanu has said the All People’s Congress (APC) is “missing” his presence, but reaffirmed his loyalty to President Julius Maada Bio, citing the administration’s achievements as the basis for his support.
Speaking on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Kanu said he joined President Bio’s team because of key initiatives such as the Human Capital Development Program launched in 2018, the government’s efforts to combat COVID-19, and improvements in the education sector. He highlighted that over one million children have been enrolled in schools, with particular emphasis on girl-child education, and that university intake has increased due to higher quality standards.
Kanu also pointed to infrastructural development, noting that President Bio has built 17 bridges across the country. He added that the APC has struggled to respond effectively to the impact of these policies, leaving the opposition “in the dark” on key governance issues.
“I think APC are missing my absence. They want me back, but I will not return to them again,” Kanu said, emphasizing that his loyalty remains with the current administration.
He further explained that his alignment with the Bio government is based on tangible progress rather than political convenience, citing achievements in health, education, and infrastructure as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.
Kanu’s remarks reinforce his position as a key supporter of the Bio administration while highlighting the ongoing political divide between him and his former party, the APC.
