Former Vice President of Sierra Leone, Samuel Sam-Sumana, officially received his All People’s Congress (APC) membership card on Monday, 5th January 2026, backdated to 2020, following a directive from the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).
The PPRC had previously ruled that Sumana’s expulsion from the APC in 2015 did not comply with the party’s constitutional procedures. With his membership now fully reinstated, Sumana is officially recognized as a party member in good standing, making him eligible to contest the APC’s flagbearer position for the 2028 general elections.
Sumana publicly declared his intention to run for the APC flagbearer position in September 2025. Party officials note that the reinstatement not only ensures his participation in the party’s internal selection process but also represents a step toward resolving lingering disputes and strengthening party unity ahead of upcoming political contests.
Sumana served as Vice President from 2007 to 2015 under the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) administration and has remained active in national politics.
His renewed membership marks a significant development in APC’s preparations for the 2028 elections.
