SLPP Needs Musa Tarawally for 2028 Victory, Media Consultant Claims

Media Consultant for Team MT 2028, Boima J.V. Boima, has stated that the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) must secure Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally to ensure victory in the upcoming 2028 general elections. He urged the party’s Elders Council to intervene and resolve an ongoing internal dispute concerning the politician's status.
During an appearance on Liberty Online TV, Boima highlighted Tarawally's broad national appeal, arguing that he possesses the unique ability to unite voters across tribal and regional divides.
“Without Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, the SLPP will not be able to win the 2028 elections,” Boima said.
He further described Tarawally as a politician capable of reaching voters beyond the country’s traditional political and regional divisions.
Directly addressing the party leadership, Boima emphasized that maintaining power hinges on internal resolution.
“If the Elders Council really wants to see the SLPP remaining in power come 2028, they have a responsibility, and that responsibility is to ensure they are able to settle this impasse within the party,” he said.
The comments follow a public disagreement regarding Tarawally's political affiliation. In September 2026, SLPP Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa instructed Tarawally to cease identifying as an SLPP member or flagbearer aspirant, citing active membership in the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP). Legal representatives for Tarawally have since contested the order and requested a formal withdrawal.
With party preparations underway for 2028, Boima's statement puts fresh focus on the unresolved conflict and Tarawally's role within the SLPP leadership structure.
