The administration of Prince of Wales (POW) Senior Secondary School in Freetown has suspended five students indefinitely after a video showing them assaulting a fellow pupil went viral on social media.
The video depicts a group of students attacking a younger pupil, Emmanuel, described by the school principal as a “very small boy.” The attackers are reportedly part of a clique within the school known as “The C’s.”
Principal George Abiodun Lefevie confirmed receiving the video from the President of the POW Old Boys Association on Tuesday. Two teachers had already identified the victim and one of the main attackers, Joseph Kallon. Kallon later provided the names of other students involved. Along with him, the suspended students are Abdul Karim Nabie, Ahmed Sesay, and Benjamin B.A. Sesay.
The school’s disciplinary team, the “Scorpion Squad” led by senior teacher Dauda Marrah, is conducting interviews with all students involved. Following the investigation, the school will issue formal suspension letters to the students and their parents.
Principal Lefevie emphasized that the school will take firm action against any student involved in violence or breaking rules. The case may also be referred to the police once the school completes its process, allowing parents to decide whether to involve law enforcement.
The school says these measures reflect its commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment and addressing violent behavior promptly.
