Professor Francis Appointed to Commonwealth Election Mission in Bangladesh

Professor David John Francis, a distinguished academic and expert in governance, has been selected to serve as a member of the Commonwealth Elections Observers Mission (CEOM). The mission is tasked with independently observing the Parliamentary Elections and Referendum scheduled for 12th February 2026 in Bangladesh.
Professor Francis is one of fourteen eminent individuals appointed by the Commonwealth Secretary-General, the Rt. Hon. Dame Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, for this critical role. The mission is being led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President of Ghana. This initiative underscores the Commonwealth's steadfast commitment to supporting and upholding democratic processes across its member states.
Upon receiving the appointment, Professor Francis affirmed his dedication to the principles of democratic governance and electoral integrity, stating, "I am honored to serve alongside such distinguished colleagues in the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission."
