Referees Secure High-Profile CAF Appointments

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced new assignments for match officials Aminata Fullah and Sulaiman Santio Kamara, marking a milestone for refereeing in Sierra Leone. The appointments underscore the increasing continental recognition of the nation’s officiating standards.

Fullah has been designated as the Fourth Official for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group Stage clash between Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire. The match is set to take place on August 4, 2026, in Casablanca, Morocco.

This selection marks Fullah’s second high-stakes role at the tournament. She recently achieved a historic breakthrough as the first Sierra Leonean to serve as the center referee in a WAFCON match, presiding over the Mali vs. Cape Verde encounter.

On the regional front, Sulaiman Santio Kamara has been appointed as the center referee for the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (WAFU B) qualifiers. He will lead the officiating team for the Burkina Faso vs. Niger fixture on August 5, 2026, in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

Like Fullah, Kamara is entering his second major assignment of the competition. His latest appointment follows a widely praised performance during the preliminary match between Togo and Nigeria.

Football analysts view these recurring appointments as a testament to the professionalism and growing influence of Sierra Leonean officials within African football. 

Both referees continue to represent their country on the international stage, reinforcing the nation's reputation for developing elite sports talent.
