During the government's weekly press briefing, updates were provided on the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee and their implementation by the Tripartite Secretariat, led by Ngolo Katta, and the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU), headed by Dr. Emmanuel Gaima.
Katta emphasised that the Steering Committee, which includes members from the government, opposition, MPs, mayors, paramount chiefs, and civil society, has engaged in extensive consultations, resulting in a comprehensive report.
He announced a national dialogue scheduled for July, which will ensure inclusivity for persons with disabilities through the provision of Braille and sign language video. The Secretariat is currently reviewing the Electoral Commission, Police Act, and Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation.
Ongoing reforms involve a functional review of the ECSL, the development of implementation trackers, and coordination with agencies such as the Office of National Security, in alignment with Recommendation 80 regarding the Secretariat's establishment.
Dr. Gaima explained the Tripartite Committee's role in promoting post-election peace, resulting in eight key recommendations. He highlighted the release of political detainees following discussions with the APC, in accordance with Recommendation 46.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the national dialogue in July, with reports available in Braille and sign language.
The Secretariat and PSRU continue to work in coordination with Parliament, ECSL, and other entities to transparently integrate all recommendations into governance and legislative frameworks.
