Christian communities across Kenema have united with the Catholic mission to mourn the brutal killing of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amodu. The priest was found dead at the Immaculate Conception Burma III section of Kenema.

The Kenema Council of Churches, in collaboration with Pentecostal churches, the Evangelical Fellowship Sierra Leone, spiritual churches, and other Christian organizations, joined the Catholic mission in expressing their grief.

Religious leaders in Kenema issued a strong plea to the government, expressing profound anger and sorrow over the recent death of a fellow clergyman.

During a press conference held on September 5, 2025, at Saint James Anglican Church on Mission Road, they made a clear call for justice.

Reverend Julius Sengova, speaking on behalf of the Kenema Council of Churches, emphasized that an attack on any man of God is an attack on all men of God. He conveyed that religious leaders feel unprotected both during and after congregational prayers within their various denominations.

Reverend Sengova strongly condemned the killing of Father Augustine Dauda Amodu, describing him as a priest who dedicated his life to serving humanity through spiritual guidance.

The Christian community is urging the government of Sierra Leone, through the Sierra Leone Police, to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. He stressed that Christians will only feel comfortable and pleased once the police use all available means to ensure the armed robbers face justice.

He concluded by appealing to President Bio’s leadership to exhaust all avenues to bring satisfaction to the Christian community following the sad death of their colleague.
