Samura Kamara Prioritizes Resolution of 2023 Election Discrepancies Over 2028 Political Ambitions

Dr. Samura Kamara, former APC presidential candidate, has formally clarified that his current focus remains on addressing the unresolved outcomes of the 2023 general elections rather than pursuing a 2028 political agenda. He maintains that establishing electoral justice is a critical prerequisite for the nation's democratic progress.
During a recent address, Dr. Kamara emphasized the necessity of criminalizing electoral fraud. He asserted that the pursuit of democratic legitimacy is compromised without the complete eradication of electoral malpractice in Sierra Leone.
He underscored that the concerns surrounding the 2023 electoral cycle are fundamental to national discourse and must be settled to provide a clear path for future political developments.
"The requirement for electoral justice and democratic legitimacy remains an urgent priority until such time as election fraud is transparently criminalized and eliminated," he remarked.
Expressing solidarity with the electorate, Dr. Kamara noted that the collective experiences of the citizens regarding the electoral process continue to be a significant concern for his leadership.
He reiterated, "I am fully committed to this cause with you. To be clear, my focus is not on a 2028 agenda while the issues of 2023 remain outstanding."
He further emphasized that the will of the people must be respected as the ultimate authority, cautioning against the normalization of electoral irregularities within the national framework.
In his capacity as a concerned stakeholder, Dr. Kamara expressed concern regarding the current political climate and advocated for the consistent application of truth, accountability, and justice.
He concluded by noting that a lack of transparency regarding past challenges has historically led to political instability, calling for an honest appraisal of the electoral system as the country looks forward.
