Residents and supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Kenema are preparing to welcome President Julius Maada Bio, who is expected to visit the city on Saturday, 9 May 2026, to officially turn the sod for the construction of a new party office.
The ceremony is expected to attract a wide cross-section of attendees, including party supporters, government officials, youth groups, women’s organizations, and local authorities from across the Eastern Region.
The planned construction of the SLPP office is being viewed by supporters as a symbol of the party’s continued presence and grassroots strength in one of its traditional strongholds, as well as part of broader efforts to strengthen its organizational structures ahead of future political activities.
President Bio, who recently called for unity and readiness within the party during the SLPP’s 75th anniversary celebrations, is expected to use the occasion to rally supporters and highlight ongoing national development initiatives.
The event is also anticipated to draw senior SLPP stakeholders from across the country, in what is being described as a show of solidarity and renewed party cohesion.
