The National Publicity Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Moses Mambu, has described the ruling party as a divinely established political institution, saying its formation and future leadership carry spiritual significance.
Speaking on Liberty Online TV, Mambu said the SLPP was formed during the period between 1948 and 1951 when various groups in Sierra Leone came together to establish the party.
He claimed that the creation of the party was guided by divine intervention.
“It was God Himself who laid hands on all the ones who came together and built the SLPP party,” Mambu said.
Commenting on the party’s future leadership, he suggested that the selection of the next SLPP flagbearer would happen in a unique and significant manner.
“On the day they will elect their next leader, Sierra Leone will stand still for a moment, and when the country wakes up again, spiritually the SLPP will get a leader,” he stated.
Mambu further maintained that the SLPP should not be seen as an ordinary political institution.
“SLPP is not an ordinary political institution; it is an institution created by God, and the leader of the party is chosen by God,” he added.
His remarks come at a time when the SLPP is preparing for internal processes to choose its next flagbearer ahead of future national elections, with growing public attention on the party’s leadership direction.
