Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has remanded 26-year-old security guard Sampha Koroma to the male correctional facility following allegations of larceny by a servant.
Koroma, who was employed by Mohamed Kamara, faces charges under Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. Prosecutors allege that on April 28, 2026, the defendant stole property from his employer along Wilkinson Road in Freetown, including a generator battery, iron props, and thirty pieces of plywood. The total value of the items is reported to be 145,500 Leones.
As the proceedings are of a committal nature, no plea was taken during the initial hearing. Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor confirmed that the defendant has been served with the relevant case and inquiry files, acknowledging receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah denied the defendant's request for bail, citing the gravity of the offense.
The matter has been adjourned until July 10, 2026.
