Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay hosted a high-level consultative meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the progress of the Tripartite electoral reform process. The session brought together the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), the National Moral Guarantors of the Agreement for National Unity, and representatives from the All People’s Congress (APC) to review the implementation of critical democratic recommendations.

The discussion focused on a comprehensive assessment of measures already enacted and those currently in progress. As a result of the deliberations, participants established a formal roadmap designed to navigate the remaining recommendations within the established timeline, ensuring that the momentum of the Agreement for National Unity is maintained.

“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to implementing these agreed measures,” stated Attorney General Alpha Sesay.

He emphasized that the ongoing governance and electoral reforms are fundamental pillars for bolstering Sierra Leone’s democratic integrity and fostering long-term national unity.

Representatives of the APC acknowledged the legislative strides made thus far, signaling a collaborative atmosphere between the government and the main opposition.

The ICPNC continues to serve as a facilitator for this dialogue, aiming to build trust and consensus among political actors to ensure that the reforms serve the broader national interest.
