Sengeh Criticizes APC, Praises SLPP for Inclusive Governance

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has criticized the All People’s Congress (APC), saying the party prioritizes its own interests over broader democratic principles, while describing the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as a social democratic party committed to inclusive governance.

In a social media post, Sengeh wrote: “For APC, it’s only about them and no one else. That’s what we must keep fighting against because inclusive multi-party democracy is the surest way to national development. The SLPP, on the other hand, is a SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY.”

He referenced historical efforts by the APC, including attempts to push for a one-party state, noting that constitutional changes to Section 35 allowed smaller political parties to exist. According to Sengeh, these developments highlight the APC’s focus on consolidating power rather than promoting multi-party participation.

remarks come amid ongoing discussions about political inclusivity, governance, and the role of party structures in Sierra Leone’s democratic process, underscoring ideological differences between the country’s two main parties.

No immediate response has been issued by APC officials regarding Sengeh’s statement.
