The Sierra Leone football community has been left in shock following the sudden death of Mighty Blackpool midfielder Bureh ‘Ganso’ Koroma, who passed away on Tuesday night.
Koroma was seen on Monday at the SLFA Academy during the Leone Rock Premier League match between Mighty Blackpool and Old Edwardians, watching from the stands as his teammates played. Less than 24 hours later, news of his death emerged.
Koroma was one of Sierra Leone Police FC’s standout performers during the 2021/22 Sierra Leone Premier League season before signing a permanent five-year contract with Mighty Blackpool after a successful loan spell with the club.
The midfielder had reportedly been unwell since suffering a head injury in May 2025 during a friendly match involving the senior national team, the Leone Stars. According to sources close to the family, he died from internal bleeding.
His passing has triggered widespread grief among fans, former teammates, and the football fraternity.
Tributes continue to pour in for the talented midfielder, whose promising career has been cut tragically short.
