Sierra Leone Hockey Association Kicks Off Level1 Coaching Course


The Sierra Leone Hockey Association (SLHA) has initiated a crucial four-day Level 1 Coaching Course at its Rogbere Hockey Facility.


The initiative, which aims to upskill coaches nationwide, commenced with an opening ceremony attended by the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima.


The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the African Hockey Federation are providing generous support for this vital training program, underscoring their commitment to fostering hockey development in Sierra Leone and enabling the nation to participate in international competitions.



Minister Teima expressed her full support for the SLHA's endeavors and commended their proactive approach to enhancing the sport within the country.


The opening session facilitated dynamic interaction between the experienced Kenyan FIH Educator, Moses Kagochi, and the enthusiastic participants.



Kagochi emphasized the significant impact of this training on the coaches' abilities and the subsequent advantages for hockey in Sierra Leone.


The Sierra Leone Hockey Trust, a key development partner, demonstrated unwavering support for the initiative. Dominique Paul, a representative of the Trust, highlighted their instrumental role in realizing the Level 1 Training and actualizing the Trust's vision for hockey development.



Acting President of the SLHA, Abubakarr Sesay, underscored the critical importance of this training program in elevating Sierra Leone's hockey standards and enabling the nation to compete effectively with other leading hockey nations on the African continent.


The SLHA remains optimistic about the positive influence this coaching course will have on the future of hockey in Sierra Leone, paving the way for enhanced performance and greater success in international competitions.
