On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Hon. Dr. Austin Demby, Minister of Health of Sierra Leone and Chair of the GFF Ministerial Networking Group, held an update meeting with the leadership of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) at the World Bank offices in Washington, D.C.
The discussions focused on the development of the next GFF Strategy (2026–2030) and preparations for the upcoming 21st Investors Group Meeting, scheduled for 11–12 November 2025 in Senegal.
The strategy aims to strengthen country-led approaches to sustainable health financing and accelerate progress on maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health.

Speaking after the meeting, Minister Demby emphasized Sierra Leone’s commitment to leveraging the GFF platform to close critical funding gaps and protect recent health gains:
“For Sierra Leone, the GFF is more than a financing mechanism; it is a partnership that helps us align domestic and external resources to improve the health and well-being of women, children, and families. As we look to 2030, our focus is on ensuring no mother or child is left behind. Our approach is guided by the 4A’s Accountability, Alignment, Acceleration, and Accompaniment to drive measurable impact.”

The update highlights Sierra Leone’s leadership role within the GFF Ministerial Network and its drive to mobilize additional resources for universal health coverage and resilient health systems.
