Sierra Leone to Criminalize Examination Malpractice

The Government of Sierra Leone is set to introduce new legislation criminalizing examination malpractice, Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey announced. 

The proposed law aims to preserve the integrity of the national education system by prosecuting those who engage in academic fraud.

The forthcoming legislation will target a wide range of actors, including students, invigilators, parents, and any accomplices involved in cheating. 

Minister Sackey emphasized that the government is adopting a zero-tolerance approach, framing malpractice as a form of corruption that undermines the value of Sierra Leonean academic qualifications.

This initiative aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s broader commitment to academic meritocracy. 

By implementing these strict measures, the administration seeks to ensure that success is earned through hard work rather than dishonest means, protecting the country's reputation on the global stage.
