The accused Martin Sellu, Gbassay Swarray, Foday Sallu, John Bangalie alias Boika, Joseph Gilamaja Kamara alias Shine, and Foday Alhassan Sesay face five counts, including murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property. The matter was heard before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1.
According to the charge sheet, between 1st and 29th August 2025, in Bo City, the accused, together with unknown accomplices, allegedly conspired to commit robbery with aggravation. They are further accused of conspiring to murder Reverend Father Amadu at Buma III, Kenema District, in the Eastern Province.
On 30th August 2025, the men allegedly armed themselves with a locally made single-barrel gun and robbed the priest of a Lenovo laptop valued at USD 350 and Le 5,000 in cash. During the robbery, they reportedly assaulted and killed him.
Prosecution witness Inspector B. Foday, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, testified that Reverend Father Michael Thomas Lamboi first reported the robbery and murder at the Kenema church house.
Inspector Foday recounted how Reverend Father Amadu was discovered motionless in his bathroom. The crime scene was secured, photographs were taken, and the body was transported to the Kenema Government Hospital for autopsy.
The investigation subsequently led to the arrest of the accused persons.
Magistrate Jah adjourned the matter to 29th September 2025 for further proceedings.
