The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), in partnership with the West Africa Football Union Zone A (WAFU-A), has formally concluded a comprehensive three-day medical workshop in Freetown. This initiative was designed to elevate medical standards and enhance player care protocols throughout the regional football community.

The seminar convened medical practitioners and football health specialists from across WAFU-A member associations. The curriculum prioritized critical subjects, including injury mitigation strategies, emergency response protocols for match days, anti-doping compliance, and contemporary team medical management, all centered on the primary objective of optimizing athlete safety and welfare.

During the closing remarks, SLFA President Babadi Kamara characterized the workshop as a pivotal step in addressing the sophisticated requirements of modern athletics. He underscored the vital importance of highly skilled medical professionals in maintaining both the safety and the peak performance of players.

Minister of Sports Augusta James-Teima lauded the program, affirming the government's dedication to initiatives that prioritize the health of athletes. She further highlighted the necessity of robust medical infrastructure as a cornerstone of sustainable sports development.

WAFU-A President Lamin Kabba Bajo expressed his appreciation to the SLFA and the Government of Sierra Leone for their hospitality and support. He noted that ongoing professional development for medical staff is indispensable in an increasingly competitive global football landscape, reaffirming WAFU-A’s commitment to regional capacity-building.

The proceedings concluded with a formal certificate presentation to the attendees, followed by a commemorative group session to recognize the successful completion of the training program.
