Mob Justice in Kenema: Man Tied for Hours Over Alleged Mango Theft

An alleged incident of mob punishment in Kenema has drawn police attention after a man was reportedly tied up for several hours over accusations of stealing mangoes.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim, identified as Musa Foday, a resident of Chief Morie Street in Burma One, was trussed with a rope in the Ngombu Community on allegations of taking mangoes.
An eyewitness, Mohamed Tarawally, who resides on Tarawally Drive in Ngombu, alleged that the act was carried out on the orders of a local resident, who reportedly instructed four men to restrain Foday. The victim was said to have been tied up for over five hours.
The situation reportedly prompted concern among community members, who raised the alarm and alerted the Sierra Leone Police. Police responded to the scene and arrested one suspect believed to be involved in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations to identify other individuals connected to the act.
The incident has sparked concern among residents over the use of mob justice in the community, with calls for such matters to be handled through lawful means.
