President Julius Maada Bio has declared that the 65th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Sierra Leone will be observed with a focus on national unity, resilience, and social cohesion.
A formal communication from the Office of the Press Secretary at State House confirms that the anniversary, falling on April 27, 2026, will be centered on the theme: "Building a Responsive, Resilient, and Cohesive Sierra Leone."
The President has mandated that the celebrations be highlighted by an interfaith service at State House in Freetown. This assembly will convene distinguished religious leaders and citizens to foster a collective spirit of gratitude and national hope.
The service, scheduled for Monday, April 27, is intended to facilitate a solemn period of reflection regarding the nation's developmental trajectory and shared aspirations.
Furthermore, the administration encourages the Muslim community to offer special prayers on Friday, April 24, and the Christian community to do so on Sunday, April 26, as integral components of the nationwide observance.
"The fundamental strength of Sierra Leone is rooted in the courage, resilience, and unity of its citizenry," the official statement noted.
The announcement underscored that this refined approach to the anniversary reflects a governmental commitment to collective responsibility and national stability.
In honor of sixty-five years of sovereignty, all citizens are called upon to renew their dedication to peace, industriousness, and national progress in alignment with the established theme.
