The High Court of Sierra Leone has dismissed an application challenging the disqualification of Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura, clearing the path for the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Elective Congress to take place as planned.
Justice Alfred Ganda delivered the ruling on July 29, 2025, at High Court Number 2 in Freetown, ordering the applicants to pay costs of 240,000 Leones. The central issue before the court was whether to grant an injunction to temporarily halt the upcoming Congress, pending the resolution of an appeal filed by Brima and Bangura.
The applicants had sought to overturn their disqualifications from participating in the Congress. Thomas Daddy Brima was barred by the SLFA Ethics Board on grounds of passport forgery and falsification. Aminata Bangura's disqualification stemmed from allegations of providing false information regarding her fingerprints to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
This judicial decision removes a significant legal hurdle for the SLFA, ensuring that the much-anticipated Congress can now proceed without further delay. The football community will undoubtedly be watching closely as the SLFA moves forward with its electoral process.
