SLFA Launches FIFA Elite Goalkeeper Coaching Workshop to Elevate National Talent

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has initiated a substantial phase in its football development mandate by hosting a specialized, FIFA-sanctioned training program. This initiative is strategically designed to cultivate the nation’s forthcoming generation of goalkeeping professionals.

Designated as the FIFA Development Scheme Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches’ Workshop, the program is scheduled to convene from April 13 to 17 at the SLFA Academy in Freetown. Its core objective is to augment the competency of local coaching staff in implementing contemporary techniques and adherence to global best practices for youth goalkeeper development.

The workshop features FIFA instructors Alejandro Alfredo Heredia and Cameron Euston Cox, whose participation underscores the programme’s emphasis on leveraging extensive international expertise and technical proficiency.

Upon their arrival, the instructors were formally welcomed by SLFA Technical Director John Keister. Mr. Keister underscored the critical imperative of focused investment in youth development, particularly within the highly specialized domain of goalkeeping, affirming that establishing robust developmental foundations at the youth level is pivotal for ensuring the sustained success of Sierra Leonean football.

With a central focus on “Supporting youth goalkeeper coaches to build a bright future for tomorrow’s superstars,” the workshop is structured to furnish participants with advanced training methodologies, modern coaching tools, and practical skills essential for nationwide goalkeeper enhancement.
