SLFA Must Ensure Technical Autonomy, Says Kamara

Alhaji Wellbeck Kamara, a former forward for the Leone Stars, has formally addressed concerns regarding the administrative operations of the national team. He has urged the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to maintain a clear distinction between administrative functions and technical team management.

Kamara expressed that persistent external influence within the Leone Stars framework may be impeding the squad's development and international performance. The former striker emphasized that achieving sustainable success requires that technical and tactical decisions remain the sole prerogative of the coaching staff, free from administrative overreach.

To illustrate these structural challenges, he cited the exclusion of Rodney Strasser from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations squad. This decision, which prompted significant public and professional debate, is viewed by Kamara as symptomatic of systemic issues currently affecting the team's governance.

Kamara underscored that such interventions can compromise team cohesion, player morale, and public confidence in the national team's leadership. He advocated for the implementation of transparency, professional integrity, and technical autonomy as vital components in fostering a more competitive national side.

These observations have prompted renewed dialogue among Sierra Leonean football stakeholders, many of whom support reforms aimed at institutionalizing meritocracy, discipline, and strategic long-term development within the national team infrastructure.
