SLFA President Commits Over US$40,000 to Launch Wusum Stadium Fence Project in Makeni

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, officially launched the Wusum Stadium fence project in Makeni as part of the Association's strategic initiative to enhance football infrastructure nationwide.
President Kamara, accompanied by members of the SLFA Executive Committee, underscored that the project is a tangible demonstration of his administration's commitment to integrity and fulfilling its mandate for developing the sport. He emphasized that honoring commitments is paramount to demonstrating integrity, noting that the pledge to support football development was made on moral grounds and must be upheld.
Addressing community stakeholders, the SLFA President affirmed the Association's focus on collective football development over personal interests. He expressed gratitude to the Executive Committee for their unified support of the project and the ongoing administrative reforms within the SLFA.
President Kamara further disclosed a significant financial commitment to upgrade the stadium's ancillary facilities, including crucial sanitation improvements in the dressing rooms. The intervention encompasses plans for drilling a borehole, connecting it to the toilet facilities, replacing tiles, and generally modernizing the dressing room spaces. Of the estimated US$75,000 total requirement for the infrastructure work, US$40,000 has been immediately allocated to the fence project, with an additional US$20,000 designated for the borehole and toilet upgrades.
Describing Wusum Stadium as vital community infrastructure, President Kamara urged local residents to assume ownership by actively monitoring and safeguarding the project. He announced that similar development projects are planned for every district in Sierra Leone, with a long-term vision to further upgrade Wusum Stadium and other fields across the nation by 2027 through secured FIFA funding.
The SLFA President concluded by emphasizing that football serves as a unifying force that transcends political, racial, or regional boundaries. Community representatives in Makeni expressed their sincere appreciation to the SLFA President and his Executive Committee for their dedication and continued support for football development in the region.
