SLFA President Engages WAFA and Division One Clubs Over Governance Concerns

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, held a high-level consultative meeting with officials of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) and representatives of Western Area Division One clubs.

The meeting, which took place at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown, was convened in response to complaints from some Division One clubs alleging unfair treatment within the regional football administration.

The session brought together WAFA Chairman Pastor Philip Buck, Secretary General Benjamin Gordon, and club representatives in what participants described as an open and frank discussion. Club officials were given the opportunity to formally present their concerns, while WAFA executives responded to the issues raised and clarified administrative procedures.

Addressing the gathering, Kamara emphasized the need for unity and mutual respect among football stakeholders, noting that sustainable progress in the sport can only be achieved through transparency and responsible leadership. He stressed that grievances should be handled through established structures and dialogue rather than actions that could undermine the integrity of the game.

The SLFA President also issued a stern warning against any form of match manipulation or attempts to secure points through improper means. He reiterated that football competitions must be decided fairly on the field of play, adding that the Association will not tolerate conduct that compromises the credibility of the sport.

Kamara reassured both WAFA officials and club representatives that the SLFA remains committed to strengthening governance systems across all levels of football. He pledged continued engagement and reforms aimed at promoting accountability and restoring trust among stakeholders.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to ongoing consultations, as part of broader efforts to enhance stability and ensure smoother operations within the Western Area football structure.
