SLFA President Issues Ultimatum Amidst Widespread Sports Frustration

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Babadi Kamara, has issued a stark warning that the SLFA will withdraw its support for the national team's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and other major international tournaments.

This ultimatum is conditional upon the National Sports Authority (NSA) immediately transferring full management of the national team back to the SLFA, a move Kamara asserted aligns with global best practices. This declaration was made during a consultative conference hosted by the Ministry of Sports.

Concurrently, a meeting involving over twenty other sporting disciplines is taking place in Lakka to review the NSA Act. Reports from this conference highlight significant operational constraints and widespread frustration among these disciplines, who have detailed the NSA's perceived neglect, particularly concerning preparations for international competitions.

Further exacerbating the situation, the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) has reported that its attempts to engage the NSA have been consistently unsuccessful, with the Authority reportedly providing ongoing excuses for its lack of cooperation.
