The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has issued a clarification regarding comments made by party member Wusu Dadiddah Jalloh during a Liberty Online Television broadcast on 24 November 2025. The party asserts that Mr. Jalloh's remarks were delivered in his capacity as a spokesperson for the First Lady and do not represent the official position of the SLPP.

This statement follows the imposition of a One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe150,000) fine on the SLPP by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC). The Commission had deemed the party to be in breach of Section 39(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act of 2022, citing that Mr. Jalloh’s statements were inflammatory and carried the potential to incite public unrest.

The PPRC also noted that the party had been previously warned for similar conduct on 11 November 2025 and allotted the SLPP fourteen days to remit the fine.

Speaking on behalf of the SLPP, National Public Relations Officer Moses Mambu underscored that the responsibility for official party communication rests solely with his office. “The party has consulted its legal counsel concerning this matter and will release a formal statement shortly. Wusu Jalloh appeared on Liberty TV as the First Lady’s spokesperson. Given that the program's subject matter related to the First Lady, his comments were not made on behalf of the SLPP,” Mr. Mambu stated.

The regulatory body emphasized the critical need for political parties and their members to maintain responsible public communication, stressing that all statements must adhere to legal and ethical standards to ensure the preservation of public peace and stability.

Mr. Mambu concluded by affirming the SLPP's unwavering commitment to full legal compliance and its dedication to ensuring that all official party communications are consistently managed through established and proper channels.
