Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has underscored a strategic push for grassroots football and youth empowerment, aligning the association’s national agenda with the global standards of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

During a recent Amateur Football Environment Analysis Conference in Freetown, Kamara emphasized that the future of Sierra Leonean football depends on structured talent identification and institutional collaboration.

The summit, facilitated by FIFA Regional Technical Consultants Ali Mwebe of Uganda and Serame Letsoaka of South Africa, convened a broad coalition of stakeholders—including government officials, educational leaders, and regional football administrators—to audit and refine the nation’s current football infrastructure.

President Kamara described the FIFA-led engagement as a pivotal step in strengthening the nation's football ecosystem. "Football development is a collective responsibility," Kamara stated, urging stakeholders to integrate the conference's technical recommendations into local community programs.

He emphasized that building a sustainable pipeline for the national team, the Leone Stars, requires unwavering commitment, integrity, and a shared strategic vision across all districts.

The SLFA continues to prioritize structured grassroots programs designed to create clear pathways for young athletes. By leveraging the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, the association aims to professionalize its scouting and nurturing processes, ensuring that young talent is identified early and supported through consistent, long-term development.

As the conference concluded, President Kamara called on all football stakeholders to adopt the experts’ guidance, reinforcing his vision of expanding access to the sport and utilizing football as a tool for broader youth empowerment across the country.
