Stoppage-Time Strike Hands Kamboi Eagles Victory Over Ports Authority

Kamboi Eagles secured a dramatic late victory over Ports Authority FC, winning 1-0 in a tense Matchweek 24 encounter of the Leone Rock Premier League at the Kenema Town Field on Wednesday, April 29.

The closely contested match was defined by discipline and organization from both sides, with clear-cut chances limited throughout the first half. Ports Authority came closest to breaking the deadlock when Paypay G. Mansaray forced a brilliant save from Kamboi Eagles goalkeeper Abu Bakarr Bangura with a powerful header.

The second half followed a similar cautious pattern, as both teams remained compact in defense. Kamboi Eagles nearly found the breakthrough in the 80th minute when Abdulai Sillah saw his header crash against the post.

In a decisive tactical move, head coach Ishmael Kallon made a double substitution in the 82nd minute, introducing Joseph Cole and Ibrahim Keita a change that ultimately proved crucial.

Deep into stoppage time, Cole surged through the Ports Authority defense before setting up Keita, who calmly slotted the ball into an empty net in the 92nd minute, sparking jubilant scenes among home supporters.

Keita’s decisive contribution earned him the Man of the Match award, as Kamboi Eagles recorded back-to-back victories following their recent away win over Luawa FC.

The result lifts Kamboi Eagles to 31 points from 25 matches, providing a significant boost under coach Kallon as they continue their push up the league table.
