Student Remanded Over Alleged WASSCE Result Fraud

A student has been remanded to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown following charges of forging and altering a fake West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result.

The defendant, Sahid Kargbo, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. He faces three counts including conspiracy to defraud, forgery under Section 4(1) of the Forgery Act of 1913, and altering a forged document contrary to Section 6(1)(2) of the same act.

The prosecution alleges that on May 12, 2026, at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) Connaught Campus, Kargbo conspired with unknown individuals to defraud the institution.

He is specifically accused of forging a WAEC result for candidate number 7021003204 and subsequently altering the document with the intent to deceive.

During the committal proceedings, no plea was entered. Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo confirmed that the defense had been served with all relevant case and inquiry files.

Magistrate Jah denied bail, citing the nature of the charges, and ordered the defendant remanded.

The matter was adjourned until June 29, 2026.
