A traditional healer in Newton was taken into custody on Sunday, 16 November 2025, following a joint police operation that uncovered a loaded firearm at his residence.
The suspect, identified as Sheku Dabor of Limba Corner, 4 Mile, Newton, was among several practitioners targeted in a coordinated sweep across Freetown-West and Freetown-East. The searches were prompted by intelligence suggesting that some traditional healers may be linked to illicit activities.
The operation was carried out by the Sierra Leone Police in collaboration with the National President of Traditional Healers, Sheku Tarawallie.
During the search at Dabor’s home, officers discovered a Glock 17 pistol loaded with approximately eight rounds. A communication handset and a red beret cap were also seized as part of the investigation.
Dabor was arrested at the scene and is currently assisting the police as inquiries continue.
The Sierra Leone Police confirmed the development in an official statement, noting that the broader operation remains ongoing.
