Alusine Kamara, a 21-year-old tricycle operator, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment following his conviction for fraudulent conversion.
Magistrate Mary Julie Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 delivered the sentence, finding Kamara guilty under Section 20(1)(iv) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
The charges arose from an incident on May 12, 2026, at Congo Cross in Freetown. Kamara had been entrusted with a tricycle, registration number AZY 247, along with its license slip and number plate—valued at Le6,000—and a spare tire and rim valued at Le1,200.
The prosecution successfully proved that the defendant unlawfully converted the total assets, valued at Le7,200, to his own use after receiving them from Patrick Kargbo for commercial purposes.
Magistrate Gbloh reached the verdict after the prosecution presented three witnesses, whose testimonies established the defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Following the conviction, Kamara was remanded to the male correctional facility in Freetown to serve his 30-month sentence.
