42-Year-Old Man Remanded Over Alleged Possession of Prohibited Drugs

Forty-two-year-old Baimba Conteh has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Justice A. Fisher on August 27, 2026, on a charge of unlawful possession of a prohibited drug.

Conteh is charged under Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008, Act No. 10 of 2008.

According to the particulars of the offence, on June 7, 2026, at Mamba Ridge in the Moyiba community, Kissy, Western Area of Freetown, the defendant was allegedly found in possession of 46 tablets of Tapentadol 250mg.

The tablets reportedly tested positive for Tramadol Hydrochloride and had a combined weight of 80.8 grams. The prosecution alleges that Conteh was in possession of the substance without lawful authority.

When the charge was read and explained to him, Conteh pleaded not guilty.

State Prosecutor Musa Pious Sesay Esq. Jr. requested a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witness. The defendant was not legally represented.

Justice Fisher refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and ordered that Conteh be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The matter has been adjourned to October 12, 2026, for further proceedings.
