A viral video circulating online has shown two boys, believed to be around 12 years old, fighting late at night reportedly over the drug known as kush. Witnesses say the altercation, which took place in a Freetown neighbourhood, could have turned violent if bystanders had not intervened to separate the children.

The footage has drawn widespread concern on social media, highlighting the growing reach of kush use among minors. Drug abuse, once confined mainly to older youth, is now spreading to children in several communities across Sierra Leone. Reports suggest that some children are not only consuming kush but are also being used to distribute it.

Although the government has launched awareness campaigns and promised to establish treatment centres, residents say the drug remains easily accessible and openly used in many areas. Families and community leaders continue to report that children are exposed to kush in their neighbourhoods.

Videos like this one have become increasingly common online, depicting young people under the influence of drugs, fighting, or falling ill.

The latest footage, showing two boys struggling in public over kush, underscores how deeply the problem has penetrated communities turning drug abuse from a warning sign into a visible reality of daily life in Sierra Leone.
