WAIIS 2026: Sierra Leone Seeks Stronger Diplomatic Support to Attract Investors

The West Africa Integration and Investment Summit (WAIIS) Secretariat has engaged Sierra Leone’s ambassadors and diplomatic missions worldwide to mobilise investors ahead of the 2026 summit.

Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, President Julius Maada Bio’s Special Envoy for WAIIS 2026, thanked Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray for hosting a virtual briefing with the country’s ambassadors and diplomatic missions.

He also acknowledged Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce President Oluniyi Robbin-Coker for hosting a similar briefing with the Chamber’s Council.

Yumkella said the diplomatic missions are expected to promote President Bio’s vision for WAIIS by identifying credible investors, financial institutions, private-sector leaders, development partners and government stakeholders, while promoting Sierra Leone’s investment opportunities and facilitating high-level introductions.

He added that the Secretariat will provide the Chamber and diplomatic missions with access to the WAIIS website, investment Deal Rooms, investor briefs and promotional materials to support targeted outreach, secure expressions of interest and connect prospective investors with the Secretariat for follow-up meetings and summit participation.

The initiative aims to mobilise investment capital, partnerships and expertise for Sierra Leone while advancing regional integration and shared prosperity across West Africa.
