As the Miss World event concludes, model, climate change activist, agriculturist, and beauty queen Lachaeveh Alberta Kaizarine Davies returns home, embraced by the love and pride of her fellow citizens.
Having emerged as one of the top eight finalists in the "Beauty with a Purpose" category, her journey to the global stage is well-recognised.
A graduate of the University of Makeni and serving as a communication officer, she has been a strong advocate for agriculture as a means to combat hunger and enhance electricity generation. Her dedication was evident even before she participated in the Miss Sierra Leone competition, where she triumphed over fifteen other contestants, some of whom were more popular.
In the Miss Sierra Leone competition, her platform focused on promoting culture despite diverse beliefs based on tribe or region, highlighting national strength, courage, and unity, forged through shared experiences and bonds formed after national challenges, including disease, natural disasters, and civil wars.
Her introduction of Sierra Leone on the world stage, addressing the issue of hunger regardless of social status and emphasising solutions through increased agricultural activities and their diversified use to enhance electricity generation, was both straightforward and intricately woven with historical references and relatable simplicity.
Lachaeveh did not initially receive full national support, but as the competition progressed, even skeptics came to respect her.
The decision of the Miss Sierra Leone group was, for once, largely unchallenged, and witnessing the queen's performance, we commend them for making a truly honorable choice. She will be returning tomorrow, June 3, 2025, and her team has invited Sierra Leoneans to welcome her at Sea Coach Terminal, Aberdeen, at 5 PM.
Welcome home, Queen Lachaeveh.
