Women Remanded Over $10,600 Housebreaking at Doctor’s Residence in Freetown

Three women, including a minor, were arraigned in court on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, over the alleged theft of $10,600 from a local doctor’s home. Magistrates denied bail and remanded them to custody.
Juliana Kamara, 13, a school pupil, Mabinty Kamara, 31, a businesswoman, and Ramatu Kamara, a trader, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown. They face charges related to housebreaking and theft.
The women are accused of conspiring to commit larceny at a residence on #1 Thompson Drive, Congo Cross, in Freetown, sometime between August and October 2024. Specifically, they are charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny from a dwelling house, contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the case, the accused allegedly conspired with unknown persons to commit the crime. They are accused of entering the home of Dr. Melvina Thompson and stealing $10,600 USD, valued at approximately 240,017 Leones.
The accused did not enter a plea as they are before the court on a preliminary investigation. They were represented by lawyer Mohamed Yassin Conteh. The prosecution is yet to lead witnesses. Magistrate Jah denied bail and ordered their remand at the female correctional facility.
The case has been adjourned to July 23, 2025, for further proceedings.
