Works Minister Inspects Ongoing Construction of Waterloo Courts Complex

The Minister of Works and Public Assets, Dr. Denis M. Sandy, has led a technical delegation to inspect the ongoing construction of the Waterloo High Court and Magistrates’ Courts Complex at Kings Yard.

The inspection, held in Waterloo on June 27, 2026, included the Deputy Minister of Works, newly posted Permanent Secretary Mr. Jusu, the Chief Director, Deputy Secretary, senior technical directors and engineers from the Ministry.

The delegation assessed construction progress and reviewed ongoing works at the facility as part of the Ministry’s oversight of the project. The planned complex will accommodate a High Court and Magistrates’ Courts, with supporting facilities including exhibit rooms, a borehole and a security post.

The facility will also feature specialised courtrooms for juvenile and sexual-offence cases, providing dedicated spaces for handling such proceedings.

The project is being executed by Afkam Construction Sierra Leone Limited and forms part of the Government’s efforts to decentralise public infrastructure and improve access to essential services outside Freetown.

Once completed, the complex is expected to improve access to judicial services for residents of Waterloo and surrounding communities while strengthening infrastructure for the administration of justice.

During the inspection, the Ministry’s technical team identified areas requiring attention to ensure the project progresses according to required standards and specifications. The Ministry said continued monitoring will be undertaken as construction advances towards completion.
