ZALA Filling Station, a subsidiary of Shero-Diam Company, officially commissioned its new fuel station in Mano Junction on Sunday, September 7, 2025. The new facility is set to significantly improve access to petroleum products in this remote area and has already created employment opportunities for local youth.
The commissioning ceremony, though brief, was well-attended by community leaders and residents. During the event, Shero-Diam Company acknowledged the crucial role of President Julius Maada Bio’s administration in fostering an enabling environment for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to operate and expand in Sierra Leone. "We hope much more will be done for private sector involvement in stimulating economic growth," stated the company's General Manager.
The opening of the Mano Junction station aligns with the company’s goal of providing high-quality petroleum products to underserved regions across Sierra Leone. This development is expected to alleviate long-standing fuel access issues for residents and drivers in the town and its surroundings.
Chief Morie Kajua, the Town Chief of Mano Junction, expressed his gratitude to Shero-Diam Company for the new station, highlighting the community's past struggles with fuel scarcity. He urged the company to consider opening more fuel stations and other facilities within the district and assured management of the community's commitment to protecting and monitoring the investment for its sustained benefit.
The auspicious occasion was graced by various community figures, including the Chief Imam, a pastor, the Driver's Union Chairman, the BRU Chairman, and security apparatus representatives.
Amadu A.T. Matturie, the General Manager, extended heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Sheriff Bah, the Group CEO of Shero-Diam, for his invaluable support over the years in advancing the company's objectives. He also lauded the management and staff of Shero-Diam Associates for their unwavering commitment and dedication.
Mohamed Mendegla, Chairman of the Drivers Union in Mano Junction, thanked ZALA management for facilitating easier access to fuel. He recalled the significant challenges faced previously in obtaining fuel and expressed confidence that the new station would resolve these constraints.
Speaking on behalf of the Mano Junction police division, Sergeant Ibrahim Tawarally and Officer in Charge Brima Lamin Kamara hailed the commissioning as a "blessing." Sergeant Tawarally recounted receiving numerous calls from residents who previously spent up to two days traveling to neighboring towns for fuel. He confirmed that he sometimes accompanied Mano Junction residents to Hangha to expedite their fuel purchases and assured ZALA management and the community of continued police protection for the station.
The event concluded with the official handing over of the station to the community.
