2023 AFCONQ: Leone Stars Commence Afcon Preparation with 36 Home-based players


Leone stars head Coach John Keister has commenced matchday 5 Afcon qualifier build-up against Nigeria with 36 home-based players who are actively playing in the Country's Premier League.


Lately, Coach Keister's formation has been heavily reliant on home-based players and his selection points to that. Among the list of the 36 Players invited is Ibrahim Kamara of Lamboi FC , who is making his debut himself and that of his side Lamboi since they gained promotion to the Sierra Leone Premier League. Ibrahim has been exceptional this season, with so many goals under his belt , and bagging the player of the month award for April, something he held so dear and near to his heart.




Prince Barrie, of East End Lions performed relatively well in the reverse match against Sao tome and Principe in Morocco, where the gaffer picked up 4 points in the doubleheader on the 22 and 26 March in Morocco , where home-based Centre back Abubakarr Samura got the curtain raiser and Alhassan Koroma with the double for Leone Stars in the reverse match against Sao tome and Principe that graciously earned the team 5 points in group A.





















Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are also gearing up preparation for the said matchday 5.


In form Super Eagles Forward, Victor Osimhen guided Napoli to its first Italian Scudetto Championship for the first time in 33 years.


Come June the two football nations would go pound for pound to a win , in a bid to Secure passage to the 2023 Afcon festival in Ivory coast.
