43 alleged protesters remanded in custody


Forty-three alleged protesters were on Thursday 24th September 2023 remanded into custody, after court appearance on various charges of Unlawful Procession, Riotous Conduct and Disorderly Behavior among other offences.



The 43-accused appeared before the Court to answer to five Counts of Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, all under the Public Order Act of 1965 as repealed and replaced by 1973.



The particulars state that on 11th day of September, 2023 at the east end of Freetown Judicial District in the Western Rural of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the 43 accused persons conspired together and with other persons unknown, to commit a crime without lawful authority.



The matter was Prosecuted by DSP E.A. Deen and Magistrate Hadiru Daboh refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 21st September, 2023.
